I never really wanted to write articles since I’ve spent most of my life writing nonfiction, but a couple of years ago I decided to begin working toward a writing career by doing what I knew best. I submitted a few essays and was fortunate enough to get a couple of them published. That gave me hope and some valid credentials for my author’s bio. Circumstances kept me from writing much during the last few months, but I’m back on track now and hope to begin submitting articles on a regular basis. I’m also working on a novel, and plan to have it ready for querying agents in a few months. I’ll post any successes on this blog so anyone interested can celebrate with me.
Since nonfiction is my area of expertise, I’m going to write a few posts on creative nonfiction, grammar, and the technical aspects of writing—including query letters and synopses. Later I’ll also talk about the structure of short stories and novels.
Occasionally I do book reviews for Thomas Nelson Publishers, and those will be placed on the Book Review page of my blog. If I read other books that I think are worth recommending, I’ll write a review of them, too.
On my Helpful Links page I’ve listed some sites I think are helpful for writing both nonfiction and fiction, and I’ll add more as I find ones worth reading. I’ve also listed the sites of some agents and editors whose blogs or websites contain useful tips for anyone serious about getting published. If you have other sites to recommend, please let me know and I’ll add them to my blog pages.
I hope to post several times each week, so stop by and comment on what I write and let me know what you’d like to read about.
Thanks for visiting.
