I had a wonderful Thanksgiving week with my family, but my kids headed back to college last night–so here I am, back to posting. As this is a busy time of year for me, I’ll only be blogging twice a week (or less) through December, but hopefully more often in the New Year. I’m still checking other blogs regularly even though I may not post a comment each time I visit.
I’m looking forward to celebrating Christmas next month. Our tree is up, along with most of the traditional decorations, and I’m starting on my Christmas cards and shopping. I’ve also created a musical e-card at Jibjab again this year, and am sharing the link here for those of you who might enjoy a bit of holiday silliness. It will be available until 1/11/11. http://elfyourself.jibjab.com/view/wt4g3TiGT3OVrptJXl19
I hope each of you has a wonderful and safe holiday season.
Is your writing schedule affected by holiday busyness, or do you stick to a regular routine no matter what time of year it is? What holiday traditions do you enjoy most? What are you putting on your “wish list” this year?
Wow, you’re quite a dancer, and so is your cat! Put a smile on my face.
Glad your Thanksgiving was great and hope you have a wonderful Christmas season.

Thanks, Jon. The men in my family don’t like to dance, so just my daughter and her cat join me in our holiday e-greetings.
I hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas.
Carol
I’m happy to hear that you had a nice Thanksgiving. Have fun gearing up for Christmas and all the excitement that comes with it!
I find that in a busy schedule like around the holidays I go either one of two ways. I never do any writing and worry the entire time that I’m not writing, or I get serious about managing my time so that I’m able to write for a few minutes every day to at least keep my mind still working. I try but it doesn’t always work out.
Jai
Thanks, Jai. I don’t do much writing during the holidays, but the older I get the less I worry about it. Spending as much time as possible with my family is my top priority.
The Christmas season is a little like summer holidays in that the daily schedule quickly gets out of whack. I still like to write first thing in the morning and again last thing at night when the house is quiet. This year we will be travelling to spend the holidays with family. I’ll have my laptop with me to keep my routine. I may write less, but I’ll still write.
I love the late night Christmas Eve candlelight service every year. Even when our children were quite young we went as a family and it set the tone for Christmas Day… we entered it more worshipful than boistrously joyful.
That’s a lovely tradition for Christmas Eve, Carol. I’m sure it helps keep the focus on the meaning of Christmas.
In the past we’ve always gone to my mom’s on Christmas Eve, but this year she’s living with my sister so we’ll be seeing her before the holidays instead. Our church service will be at 3:00pm, so we’ll be spending the evening at home.
Hi Carol,
I am glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I did also. I have to admit for the last couple of months, my writing schedule has totally slowed down due to issues at my job that have taken more of my time than expected. The holidays usually don’t allow much time for writing, so I have to work it in where I can. I hope to get back to a regular writing routine after the New Year.
Katrina
Katrina, I hope your job issues get resolved soon and don’t interfere with your holidays. Good luck on re-establishing a regular writing routine in 2011.
Carol
I’m not expecting to get a great deal of writing in over the holiday season, so I figure any bit I get in will be a bonus. I now have a few months off work so that will give me extra time as well. Who knows…
The only thing I’d really like for Christmas this year is to have the whole family home.. Alas, my second daughter has to work over the holidays so I’m not sure that’s going to happen… Still I like to remain hopeful that she’ll be able to make it home for dinner on Christmas day..
Laura, I hope you get your wish and have your whole family together for Christmas. My kids will all be home for several weeks, so I don’t expect to get much writing done during the holidays either.
Good luck with meeting your writing goals while you’re off work.
Carol
My writing is in the hole right now because of the season. I have yet to put up my tree, but when I do, I’m sure I’ll have a cat ornament very similar to yours.
I love making cookies at Christmas. That’s probably my fav thing to do. Christmas cookies have no calories. Not many people know that.
My writing has suffered due to the holidays, too. I’m reading in my spare time instead, but I’m telling myself it’s research and studying the craft of writing…
My mom always made the Christmas cookies, but due to her health problems we will have to bake our own this year if we want any. I’m not fond of baking so I’m hoping my daughter will make some when she gets home from college Thursday. I’m glad cookies don’t have calories as I’ve been enjoying pumpkin rolls a friend gave us–and they are loaded with calories!
Carol, my writing has ceased completely. I don’t see me getting started again until after the holidays when all becomes quiet.
I’m so glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and wish you a blessed and joyous Christmas.
Love and blessings,
Elizabeth
Thank you, Elizabeth. I’m glad you’re safely home, and hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas as well.
Blessings,
Carol
